Hyland Seeds was founded in 1975 as a division of W.G. Thompson & Sons Ltd. This major Canadian grain exporter and supplier of seed, fertilizer, and crop inputs was renamed Thompsons Limited in 2004. Through Ontario grain handling facilities, located in some of the richest farmland in the world, Thompsons has built a reputation for trading top quality products and food type grains for over 80 years.

 

Hyland Seeds is the largest, private multi-crop breeding program in Canada. Using traditional and state-of-the-art technology, Hyland's internationally recognized plant breeders and research technicians are active in all areas of variety development for corn, soybeans, edible beans and cereal grains. From its earliest days, Hyland has been a leader in conservation and sustainable agricultural practices.

Hyland's successful seed research, production, and extensive testing program extends to all parts of Canada, the Northern United States and Europe.

Quality standards for seed and food production are vital. Hyland's quality control program ensures customers that the products they buy, meet or exceed international standards for quality. All seed processing plants are inspected and certified by the Canadian Seed Institute to comply with strict regulations. Our accredited seed laboratory provides numerous tests required by the Canadian Seeds Act.

The Hyland Sales and Marketing Department has a highly qualified staff well grounded in crop science and on-farm experience. They oversee a strong and growing alliance of more than 300 dealers across Canada and the northern United States. Our sales staff is committed to long term customer relationships.
